About the Book:

Holly Campbell is trying to turn her life around. But, to protect her younger brother, she has one last job to complete. All she needs to do is use her unique skills to break into the safe on a yacht—millionaire Jake Lawson’s yacht—a man Holly had a one-night stand with before she knew his true identity.

Jake knows Holly can’t be trusted. He believes she used the one night stand as a decoy to steal from his company and he knows she’s up to something again. Jake’s determined to figure out what and stop her. He won’t let her take anything from him, least of all his heart.

What If

Sonya Weiss

I find inspiration everywhere! I think probably because I’m always thinking about things in light of how it could work in a fictional world.  I always ask myself “what if” in different situations.  It’s the what if that leads to inspiration that leads to a story.

For example, a woman is trying to catch a taxi in New York City.  It’s late and she just wants to get home. What if a guy is trying to catch that same taxi? So they share the ride. They find out they’re from the same state and have each moved to the city to chase their dreams.  So that inspires the beginning of a story.

The inspiration for Wedding Date Rescue came from the “what if” inspiration of having a firefighter as a hero but what if he’s the one who actually needs rescuing emotionally?

With my latest book, The Millionaire’s Temptation, the inspiration came from wanting to write about a different kind of heroine. One who’d been knocked down repeatedly in life but kept getting back up.

I thought what if this was a woman who’d had to do things that were on the wrong side of the law just to protect the little brother she loved so fiercely?

I’ve found inspiration that leads to inspiration in an ad. There was an ad years ago of a really attractive man. But that’s not why it caught my eye (she says with a wink). There was a woman in the ad and the man was leaning toward her. The undertones of passion practically sizzled off the page. It gave the impression that they were attracted to one another but their body language said they were both fighting it.

I do a lot of daydreaming (it’s one of the symptoms of being a writer!) and I find inspiration for books just in the scenes that my mind spins into a possible tale.
