FHEO available now

forhiseyesonly_highresA night he can’t forget

Five years ago, Nick Markovic found himself consumed by his quest for vengeance. The one time he managed to find peace was in the arms of Hayley Dalton. Being with her was like bathing in sunlight, and he ached to feel that again, but he couldn’t. He gave his oath to Hayley’s cousin Desiree, his partner at McKay-Taggart and Knight, that he’d never let his darkness infect Hayley’s innocent world.

A spark she can’t put out

It was years before that Hayley offered everything she had to Nick. After that one amazing night, all she wanted was to be his forever. Unfortunately, Nick’s reaction was to walk away from her and never look back. The warm and caring man she’d discovered was gone, and after Des’s death, he’d only grown colder. But when Hayley finds herself in mortal danger, she’s forced to seek protection from the man who broke her heart.

A flame that threatens to consume them both

Haunted by the women he failed, Nick can’t allow himself to grow close to Hayley again. Running to stay ahead of the powerful forces that endanger their lives, they travel from the lush Garden in London to the glittering lights of Rio. As the threat against her becomes clearer, he realizes that to keep her safe he must confront the demons from his past, even if it costs him a future with the woman he loves.

 REVIEW

Ms Blake brought us back in the Masters and Mercenaries world. In this book, she wrote a second chance romance about the hunky Russian, Nikolai Markovic.

Nick was Des'(SPOILER for those who haven't read book 9 and more, she died) lover and sometimes partner in crime. The thing is. he fell in love with Des' cousin but because of reasons it didn't work out. Now, after Hayley, Des's cousin, got a part of her cousin's estate her house was blown up and she is being hunted by people unknown. The only thing that comes to mind is to run to London, to Nick, and to convince him to help a girl out.

The story starts with a bang, when Hayley gets to the Garden and kind of cons her way in. Nick is ecstatic when he sees her, until he finds out what happened. The thing is, both of them are still hung up on each other, but both of them are kind of hiding it and not recognizing their feelings. I don't understand why this is one of the most used plot device in Romancelandia, it got so old! People I know it's hard, but if you recognize your feelings you're not week or stupid or whatever comes to mind! Being honest about your emotions is the strongest thing in the world, IMHO.

Anyway, Hayley is partially horrified and partially curious and partially jealous when she finds out that Nick is into BDSM and he's living in a club. Unfortunately she has a meltdown where she's being judgy(she's usually not) and he takes her to a hotel. As you can imagine, they're almost assassinated and Hayley sees the error of her way and agrees that living at the Garden is not a bad thing. After they get there, they find out that Ian and Charlotte and Damon and Penny came back from vacation. Reading more about this group was my favorite part of the book, they are hilarious!

All in all stuff blows up, figuratively and literally, they fight and make up multiple times, they jump to conclusions, but Ms Blake writes a lovely happily ever after.

NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog int eh world. She began writing at a young age, concentrating on plays and journalism. It wasn’t until she started writing romance and urban fantasy that she found the stories of her heart. She likes to find humor in the strangest places and believes in happy endings no matter how odd the couple, threesome, or foursome may seem.
